About Myogauge

With over a decade of research and development behind it, Myogauge strength testing professionals are able to provide muscle testing using isometric technology.  Isometrics are a type of strength training in which the joint angle and muscle length do not change during contraction.  Myoguage is the premier isometric strength testing system, relied upon by fitness and clinical professionals nationwide.

Originally called The Myotech Company, Stanley Kaplan, Founder and President of Unifast Industries purchased the underlying technology in 1988. The company had already sold 500 units of this first generation muscle testing system over a two year period primarily to chiropractors. The technology was temporarily shelved when a change in the Medicare payment system made the original client base less accessible. In 1995 the company was revived by Kaplan, who could now devote the time needed to develop the marketing potential of the Myotech System. It was at this time the name was changed to Myogauge. Advanced documentation software, as well as a more user friendly design now went into development.

By 2001, prototyping of the first improved Myogauge System had been complete. It was once again ready for sale to chiropractors and other clinical professionals. These machines were highly effective in documenting an injured patient's progress via isometric evaluations of muscle strength and stamina. These original units are still being used today.

By 2003 the machine had been redesigned to fit more comfortably in a small office setting.  It still maintained its trademark reliability.  An independent and accredited clinical evaluation firm tested the continued accuracy of the Myogauge System and concluded the following:

“In our opinion, the Myogauge can accurately ascertain the
incremental force created by muscle exertion, to be used in the analysis and treatment of repetitive stress injuries.” - New York Testing Laboratories

Currently The Myogauge System is marketed as an effective tool in numerous health and fitness applications. We are confident in our ability to document soft tissue injuries, both minor and severe, to make the treatment and recovery process more efficient.  Myogauge is also effective in the sports and athletic world.  Established strength baselines are used to set fitness goals by individuals as well as professional trainers.

Research required to make an impact in reducing workplace injuries, deter low back malingerers by creating a safer working environment, as well as for use by insurance companies to weed out fraudulent claims of injury, continues to progress. Myogauge will put these programs into action as soon as the data reaches the threshold needed to be considered airtight and scientific.

As with any technology such as Myogauge, the ultimate efficacy and best use of that product only becomes clearer over time. No health or fitness professional, in an effort to provide the most comprehensive and effective service, can afford not to own a Myoguage. The benefits and applications useful to the fitness and clinical practitioner are immense, and are continuing to be developed by Myogauge each day.
